S: I was not disappointed by this all-time classic book. Written from the point of view of an eight-year-old girl called Scout, To Kill A Mockingbird, despite the subject matter, manages to capture the humour that most adults fail to see.

The book tackles a controversial subject: one man’s word against a women who claims he raped her. Atticus, the defence lawyer and Scouts father, artfully manages to put up a clever defence case.

Throughout the book Atticus teaches Scout some valuable lessons in life, imbued with wisdom and experience.

I’m surprised that Lee never felt the urge to write another novel. To Kill A Mockingbird is a joy to read, fabulously written and gripping to the end.
